Yoràn Vroom – Group of Friends

Virtuoso drummer leads a band full of top musicians.

With Group of Friends, Yoràn Vroom presents his original compositions. For example, from his acclaimed debut album Across a Spectrum. The main inspiration of the music is the richness of the Caribbean culture, which the musicians give their own take on with collective improvisation as the common denominator. The concert is dedicated to Keti Koti and slavery, which was abolished on this day exactly 150 years ago.

Yoràn Vroom is one of the greatest drummers in The Netherlands. He attributes a major part of his development to his studies with drummer Eddy Veldman, and with percussionist Ponda O’Bryan. Yoràn Vroom has collaborated with internationally renowned musicians such as Frank McComb, Ed Motta, and Cory Henry.

‘Listen to Across a Spectrum from start to finish, and you will know who Yoràn Vroom is, and that is a pleasant way of getting to know a beautiful musician. A convincing, authentic debut album, with fantastic in-your-face drums and percussion. It’s like the musicians are gathered around you’ (Slagwerkkrant).
