The career of Snijders is one of diversity. By mixing the Surinamese styles kaseko and kawina with jazz, funk and soul he developed his own sound palette. As an improviser and standards bearer of kaseko music he has made his mark on the development of jazz and improvised music in The Netherlands.
Sharing knowledge and inspiration are crucial to Snijders. For decades he connects many generations, cultures, listeners and performers.
‘Inspired by his roots and musical heritage of his father, Snijders always had a big curiosity to new developments. The connection with young musicians is essential to him. (…). He is someone who makes other musicians shine‘ – Jury of the Boy Edgar Prize 2022.
