Viva Brasil presents the best Brazilian jazz and pop of this moment, with Bimhuis performances by singer Fabiana Cozza, vocal/bass-duo Vanessa Moreno/Fi Maróstica and DJ MAM.

On July 18 and 19 the Viva Brasil Festival will erupt at Muziekgebouw
aan ’t IJ and the Bimhuis. The number one Brazilian music festival in
The Netherlands offers an exciting program with established names as
well as new talents.

Fabiana Cozza is loved by audience and critics
alike. The São Paulo-based singer is recognized as one of the most
important performers of contemporary Brazilian music. With her worm
timbre she brings a worldly mix of theatre, dance and music. Fabiana
Cozza won the Brazilian Music Award in the category Best Samba Singer.

With
just voice, electric or double bass, and hand percussion, the duo of
Vanessa Moreno and Fi Maróstica, and their disarming album Vem Ver,
created a sensation in Brazil. Never losing touch with authentic
Brazilian roots, they manage to sound completely original. Vanessa
Moreno’s flawless vocals are underpinned by virtuoso, lyrical bass
playing and refreshing arrangements. A Dutch première!

It’s
impossible to think of Brazilian music today without thinking of DJ MAM.
This much-lauded producer and musical jack-of-all-trades took to the
main stage of Rio’s world-famous New Year’s Day celebrations on
Copacabana beach, playing for its biggest audience ever: 2.3 million
revelers. His sets are bursting to the seams with colorful sounds, from
funk and disco to carioca, afrobeat, technobrega en carimbó.
