24-year-old vocalist Tyreek McDole shines brilliantly as his star rises in the bustling New York scene. With a string of prestigious awards to his name, Tyreek stands out as a rising star in the music world. With his mild baritone voice, he can lean towards the romantic style of vocal legends such as Johnny Hartman and Billy Eckstine. But he also follows the adventurous path of Pharoah Sanders and Leon Thomas on his new album Open Up Your Senses, with a rendition of their classic ‘The Creator Has a Master Plan’.
Haitian-American singer Tyreek McDole grew up in sunny Florida. He has shared the stage with an impressive roster of musicians, including trumpet hero Theo Croker and saxophone veteran Gary Bartz. In November 2023 he won the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, as the second male ever. This competition has brought forth winners such as Cyrille Aimée (2010), Jazzmeia Horn (2013) and Samara Joy (2019), who have all starred on our stage in recent years.
