‘We infuse our shows with energy, as opposed to the usual complicated solos’, says Tini Thomsen about her band MaxSax. She plays baritone sax, not in the manner of Gerry Mulligan or Pepper Adams, but rather with a rocking and pounding vigor more akin to the Foo Fighters or the Queens of the Stone Age. The Hamburg-born musician studied composition, bass clarinet and saxophone in Amsterdam, where she’s been resident since 2003.
