Swedish pianist Martin Tingvall has a knack for writing bright melodies that sound like they have been around for years. His Tingvall Trio makes waves in Europe with energetic acoustic jazz which raises comparisons with Esbjörn Svensson Trio (E.S.T.), the groundbreaking Swedish piano trio.

The irresistable grooves give away the rock and hip hop background of drummer Jürgen Spiegel and reveal the Cuban descent of double bass player Omar Rodriguez Calvo, who has performed at the Bimhuis with Ramón Valle. On the most recent album Beat band leader and composer Tingvall shows his poetic as well as his more dark and cryptic side.
