Susana Raya is not just another singer-songwriter, but a skilled classical and jazz guitar player and an award-winning jazz vocalist. Her Spanish roots come to the surface in the songs on her new album Wind Rose, which was recorded with, among others, Steve Swallow and Cyro Baptista. The album contains a Joni Mitchell cover, and further influences include Elis Regina and Chet Baker.
At the Bimhuis she will perform with exceptional musicians who have collaborated with international greats: bassist Ira Coleman (Herbie Hancock, Branford Marsalis), pianist Clifford Carter (Linda Ronstadt, Paul Simon), percussionist Rhani Krija (Sting, Chick Corea) and a number of special guests!
