‘SEAN BERGIN, MUZIKANT (1948-2012)’

The premiere of the documentary about the Amsterdam jazz musician Sean Bergin (1948-2012), followed by a concert of New Mob, his band which is now led by his daughter Una Bergin.

Director Remy Vlek made a documentary on the half Irish, half South African Sean Bergin, who created a stir in the Amsterdam jazz scene as a saxophone player, flutist, band leader and composer. The documentary contains scenes of the last concerts of Bergin’s New Mob shot at the Bimhuis.

Sean Bergin brought South African jazz, bar songs and folk music to Amsterdam. ‘A born melodic player… gospel, Celtic song and the uproar of Charles Mingus are never far removed’ (Volkskrant).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
