Pianist Rembrandt Frerichs and his trio balance between jazz, classical and Eastern music. They will perform pieces of their Edison audience award-nominated album A Long Story Short.

Rembrandt Frerichs has been called an ‘an adventurer of the keys’ and ‘a master on his instrument’ by the Dutch daily newspapers Trouw and de Volkskrant, respectively. The Dutch pianist scouted New York and spent time living in Cairo. His music contains the drive of American jazz and the lyricism of Eastern music, as well as the spaciousness of the chamber music of Debussy and Ravel.

With his trio he will perform original music from the album A Long Story Short. His compositions are inspired by the ideas of Piet Mondrian and this painter’s quest for the essence of beauty. The album, which was released earlier this year, has been nominated for the Edison audience award.

‘Rembrandt’s music is a wonder of organic creativity, an exemplary fusion of the old and the new world’ (HP/De Tijd).
