The trios playing this double concert are made up of international musicians who have a special bond with Amsterdam and the BIMHUIS. First there’s Punk.Vrt.Plastik: ‘Punkt’, a point of view and a musical statement in Swedish, ‘Vrt’ (garden in Slovenian), where the musical ideas are planted and cultivated, and ‘Plastik’ (German), as a sound vision, plasticity of musical shapes and structures. In this trio, Slovenian-born pianist and composer Kaja Draksler collaborates with two highly respected Berlin residents, bassist Petter Eldh and drummer Christian Lillinger, in a trio that started at the BIMHUIS October Meeting 2016.
Blik crackles and creaks, but sounds lyrical and tender at the same time. Singer Annelie Koning effortlessly switches between original stories and poems by, for example, Charles Bukowksi. At the same time, drummer Tristan Renfrow and bassist Luc Ex (from The Ex, among others) switch between pure improvisations and tightly rehearsed pieces. Independent from one another, these musicians performed at the BIMHUIS in various bands such as The Ex, I Compani and Bacchanalia. Now they will present a new album in the form of a tin can designed by artist Milou van Ham.
