This Brazilian documentary honors singer/songwriter and accordion player Luiz Gonzaga (1912-1989), who popularized the indigenous music style baião.
10:30 PM – CONCERT: PROJETO COISA FINA
The treasures of Brazilian jazz are in good hands with the orchestra Projeta Coisa Fina from São Paulo. Saxophone player and founder Daniel Nogueira researched the fascinating, largely undiscovered life story of Brazilian composer Moacir Santos, who created film music in Hollywood and recorded albums for Blue Note. Aside from samba and Latin jazz the orchestra plays such lesser known Brazilian styles as baião and maracatu.
