Nitai Hershkovits Trio

This young pianist steps out of the shadow of double bass hero Avishai Cohen with dynamic, thoughtful compositions. ‘A genuine prodigy playing with relaxed authority’ (BBC).

Nitai Hershkovits made name at major venues and festivals with the Avishai Cohen Trio and was hailed as a piano prodigy. Critics compared him to Hank Jones, Brad Mehldau and others: ‘Hershkovits dances on the keys with the elegance of Fred Astaire and the melancholy wit of Charlie Chaplin’ (General-Anzeiger Bonn).

Nitai’s music is very diverse: from his almost classical sol piano compositions to the beat-oriented music on his recent album New Place Always, that radiates the energy of his current hometown New York. His renewed trio sounds promising: transparent, dynamic and with influences of Monk and Ornette Coleman. Drummer Amir Bresler has previously played the BIMHUIS with the Omer Klein Trio.
