Minyeshu

Ethiopian singer enchants everyone with hypnotic grooves.

Minyeshu is receiving amazing reactions to her current album NETSA. The glowing mix of jazz, funk, and ethio-groove has drawn comparisons to Ethiopian music greats such as Aster Aweke and Mulatu Astatke. On NETSA, which translates to ‘free’, the singer hits new roads, singing in the Amharic language, combining rich traditional elements from the Horn of Africa with Western styles.

Minyeshu grew up in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. At a young age she was discovered as a singing and dancing talent. At age seventeen she started her career with the renowned Ethiopian National Theatre, with which she has toured all over the world. After leaving Ethiopia, she continued her career in Western Europe. Since 1996 she has been living in The Netherlands. NETSA has been released worldwide by the British label ARC Music.
