Mike LeDonne – Vincent Herring Quartet

Superior groove jazz by known performers from New York, including Hammond B3-organist Mike LeDonne, who played with Sonny Rollins, and saxophonist Vincent Herring, who played with Horace Silver.
Before the concert starts, presenter Koen Schouten will interview the band. At 19:45 in the concert hall.

Mike LeDonne is a groover and at the BIMHUIS he will dive into original jazzed up soul classics and catchy jazz tunes by the greats, from Earth, Wind & Fire to Horace Silver. Besides being an excellent pianist, Mike is one of the leading Hammond B3 organ players in the world. He forms a strong team together with his fellow American Vincent Herring (saxophone) and Dutch masters Martien Oster (guitar) and Hans Braber (drums).

Mike LeDonne has made his mark alongside jazz giants such as Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman and Sonny Rollins. Alto saxophonist Vincent Herring came up in Horace Silver’s band and is regarded as one of the most important successors of Charlie Parker and Cannonball Adderley. Following his jazz guitar studies in the US, Martien Oster has played with outstanding performers such as Larry Coryell and Diana Krall (on her first album). Hans Braber is one of the most highly regarded drummers in The Netherlands and he has worked with, among others, Lee Konitz and Monty Alexander.
