Limosa Limosa is the new group centred around the internationally renowned singer from Equatorial Guinea Nelida Karr and Amsterdam-based Luc Ex. ‘Limosa Limosa’ is the Latin name for the black-tailed godwit, a bird that migrates between Africa and Europe. This is basically what the music does. It connects the powerful voice of Nelida Karr and the contemporary blues of Luc Ex. The group also features drummer Angelo Mustapha, originally from Benin; cellist Saartje van Camp, originally from Belgium and known from the band of Spinvis; and Finnish guitarist Mikael Szafirowski.

The voice of Nelida Karr radiates soul and passion. She’s also a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, cello and piano. Luc Ex, originally the bass player for The Ex, has been bringing together forward-thinking musicians from all over the world for years, in various ensembles. Free form blues has always played an important part in his music and is the common ground between the two worlds of Nelida Karr and Luc Ex. They played together for the first time at the Moers Jazz Festival.
