Four musical omnivores from jazz and classical music join forces in a spectacular show about unrequited love, based on songs by Franz Schubert.
Franz Schubert’s song cycle Die schöne Müllerin consists of moving, captivating and poetic songs for vocals and piano. In the audiovisual performance Liebeskrank these songs are given a complete makeover by four singular musicians: tenor Charles Hens, saxophonist Jasper Blom, hammond organist Folkert Oosterbeek and drummer Felix Schlarmann. Under the name Mechanical Duck they seek the dialogue with exciting film images, giving Schubert’s 200 year-old music a staggering facelift with the original theme of unrequited love.
The audiovisual theatre show Liebeskrank by Mechanical Duck, featuring musicians of among others internationally renowned power jazz formation BRUUT!, premiered at Operadagen 2015 and received acclaim at De Parade touring festival.
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
