Konrad Koselleck Big Band & Edwin Rutten: Edwin 80!

Birthday concert dedicated to life and music with special guests Claron McFadden, Frits Landesbergen & Julia Philippens.

Edwin Rutten celebrates his eightieth birthday. Together with Konrad Koselleck Big Band and special guests Claron McFadden, Frits Landesbergen & Julia Philippens he celebrates life with music that moves beyond genre boundaries. Vocalist and presenter Edwin Rutten is generally known in The Netherlands as the television character Ome Willem. As a teenager he recorded his first vocal jazz albums together with his classmate Rogier van Otterloo. He performed with famous orchestras such as The Skymasters and Metropole Orchestra. Together with the Konrad Koselleck Big Band he recorded the album The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra & The Big Band, inspired by Benjamin Britten’s classical composition based on a theme by Henry Purcell.

The Konrad Koselleck Big Band is something else. Time and again band leader Koselleck finds adventurous combinations of jazz, cabaret, musical, pop, rock, funk, Latin and even classical music. The repertoire ranges from Brecht and Weill to Nina Hagen and Rammstein, plus many new works by contemporary composers.

Konrad Koselleck compositions/arrangements/conductor Werner Janssen, Floris van der Vlugt, Joao Driessen, Kees van Lier, Kees van Dooremalen saxophone, Charlie Biggs, Robbert Scherpenisse, Florian Sperzel, Gerard Kleijn trumpet, Bastiaan Woltjer, Matthias Konrad, Vincent Veneman, Axel Schappert trombone, Jens Larsen guitar, Charly Zastrau piano, Reyer Zwart bass, Haye Jellema drums.
