KONRAD KOSELLECK BIG BAND PLAYS THE CLASSICS
Monday15 June 2015

Bach, Mendelssohn, Purcell, Wagner: the Konrad Koselleck Big Band gives a twist to the great classical works, with respect and with a subtle wink. Special guest: cello player Annie Tangberg.

The Konrad Koselleck Big Band plays a concert with classical works, but slightly different than you would expect. Koselleck arranged music by Bach, Mendelssohn, Purcell and Wagner, inspired by the galleries of honor of the Royal Concertgebouw. These composers will not turn in their graves, but will tap their feet instead, according to Koselleck.

Special guest is Norwegian born cello player Annie Tangberg (Metropole Orchestra), who knows the classics and also dares to use electronic effects. This will be an exciting night!

‘It’s as loud and impressive as a big band is supposed to be, but beyond that it’s a revelation to hear how serene this bunch of metal can become, how Koselleck makes use of all the dynamic possibilities of his ensemble’ (de Volkskrant).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
