Konrad Koselleck Big Band 20!

A big band like no other celebrates its 20th anniversary with remarkable stories and guests: Fay Lovsky, Deborah J. Carter, Edwin Rutten, Vincent Bijlo en Berima Amo.

On 5 May it’s exactly 20 years since the Konrad Koselleck Big Band made its debut on the BIMHUIS stage. Time for a big party with soloists who are very significant to the band. Like the eccentric vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Fay Lovsky, the American jazz vocalist Deborah J. Carter, and the Ghanian trumpeter/singer/songwriter Berima Amo, as well as vocalist/presenter Edwin Rutten, and storyteller/comedian Vincent Bijlo. They will guide you through highlights from their repertoire.

The Konrad Koselleck Big Band keeps on surprising, with inspiring concerts that combine a light-hearted spirit with profound depth. Through new compositions and arrangements, band leader Koselleck responded to themes such as 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, 50 years Bijlmer, and 75 years of the Liberation of Amsterdam. The orchestra remembered World War I by touring historical locations in Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands, with Ellen ten Damme and Vincent Bijlo. Together with Edwin Rutten, Koselleck wrote The Young Person’s Guide to the Big Band.

Afterwards DJ Philippona will perform a set in our café.
