Energetic, compact mixture of pop and jazz by a surprising line-up: Morris Kliphuis (ex-Kyteman Orchestra) on French horn, Timon Koomen on guitar and Remco Menting on percussion and drums.

Kapok is a young Dutch band with an unusual line-up: Morris Kliphuis on French horn, Timon Koomen on guitar and Remco Menting on percussion and drums. They will perform music from their new album with special guests: saxophonist Mete Erker (Estafest) and keyboard player Niels Broos (Kyteman Orchestra).

Kapok brings together the energy and compact form of pop with elements of jazz and improvisation. Kapok plays music that is new and recognizable at the same time, tight and controlled, only to veer suddenly into fascinatingly abstract free playing. Kapok has played numerous concerts which were received enthusiastically in pop and rock venues as well. Morris Kliphuis was a member of Kyteman’s orchestra until 2012.

‘The trio excels in fervid teamwork, with playful themes, harmonized melodies and propulsive, eccentric rhythms’ (Jazzism).

Afterwards: DJ Jairzinho with afrolatinjazz and more.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
