JOHN SCOFIELD: YANKEE GO HOME

American jazz legend returns to the music of his younger years.

John Scofield is mainly known and loved as a jazz guitarist, who made his breakthrough playing Miles Davis and became a household name as a solo artist. With his new project Yankee Go Home, the American guitarist returns to what feels very familiar to him. The rock ’n roll of his youth, for example, but also the rock, funk, country, and free music he became acquainted with since his teenage years. From Buddy Holly to Neil Young, and from The Grateful Dead to Pharoah Sanders: Scofield combines their songs with his own compositions.

The other yankees on stage alongside Scofield have each made name for themselves in international jazz. Pianist Jon Cowherd played in Brian Blade Fellowship, and on albums by the likes of Cassandra Wilson and Iggy Pop. Vicente Archer played double bass with, among others, Robert Glasper and Louis Hayes. Drummer Josh Dion accompanied other well-known jazz guitarists such as Chuck Loeb and Jim Campilongo.
