JOHN LINDBERG QUARTET

John Lindberg-double bass, Baikida Carroll-trumpet, fluegelhorn, Steve Gorn-bansuri-flutes, saxophones, clarinets, Susie Ibarra-drums, percussion

John Lindberg is mainly known by his work with Anthony Braxton and the String Trio of New York, but he also recorded more than twenty albums with his own ensembles. He defines his conception of composing and improvising as ‘relaxed enthusiasm’. ‘One of John Lindberg’s most enduring distinctions is that he demonstrates how much having fun could -and should- be central to modern jazz dynamics. It seems Lindberg is one of the few bassists who actively pursues this emanations of Charles Mingus’ smile.’ (Down Beat)
