Double bassist William Parker and drummer Hamid Drake, key figures from the New York avant-jazz scene, improvise with Amsterdam-based tenor sax player John Dikeman. Presentation of their album on El Negocito Records.

Double bassist William Parker and drummer Hamid Drake have had an inestimable influence on improvised music. These New York musicians have played together in countless bands since the 1970s and are key figures in international avant-jazz. At the Bimhuis they will perform with tenor saxophonist John Dikeman. Coming from small religious village and driven by free jazz to travel the world, Dikeman currently plays a leading role in the Amsterdam improvised music scene. Now he will play with two musicians who have inspired him since his youth, on the occasion of their new album on El Negocito Records.

John Dikeman: ‘William and Hamid have played so much together, it’s hard to think of a better rhythm section in any genre, anywhere… I feel extremely honored (and terrified!) to bring this trio together.’

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
