Joey Calderazzo is known as one of the finest pianists of his generation, and for a reason. His playing explores the whole history of jazz, as well as his classical background. His own trio is his place of comfort and freedom. Together with double bassist Orlando le Fleming and drummer David Hawkins he improvises on the basis of original compositions and choice covers.
Joey Calderazzo made name as a pianist, keyboard player and composer for two of the most important tenor saxophonists of the past fifty years: Michael Brecker and Branford Marsalis. As Branford Marsalis’s main musical collaborator he has worked on successful projects such as the band Buckshot LeFonque and the duo album Songs of Mirth and Melancholy. He has released albums as a solo pianist and leader of his own trio on various labels including Blue Note.
