The Jasper Blom Quartet regularly invites collaboration with exceptional guest soloists from the European jazz scene. Following in the wake of projects with Marco Tamburini and Bert Joris now comes this set-up with Nils Wogram. ‘His technique as well as his musical ideas exhibit a rare flexibility’, says de Volkskrant about the trombonist from Berlin that many consider one of the best improvisers in the world. In performance with bands such as Root 70 and Nostalgia, he creates connections between jazz and underground rock and dance music.
Jasper Blom has been praised for his remarkable flexibility as a tenor saxophonist and composer, and for his openness to a spectrum that stretches from contemporary funk and jazz to the experimental possibilities offered by music from earlier eras, such as the Middle Ages and the 19th century. His all-star quartet, with Jesse van Ruller, Frans van der Hoeven and Martijn Vink, has been going strong for more than 10 years.
