With this new and exciting band, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten continues to develop his eclectic musical world. The music draws as much inspiration from avant-jazz as from world music and psychedelic rock. All the compositions for his new band are tributes to places Ingebrigt has strong connections to, for example Chicago and Austin, Texas, where he has lived, but Amsterdam as well. KNARR was named after a viking ship, as a metaphor for his traveling lifestyle.

Last year KNARR presented its first album (EXIT) KNARR at the festival Vossa Jazz. Especially for this occasion, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten formed a band with versatile musicians from various Scandinavian Countries. In 2020 the bassist returned to his native Norway. Twenty years ago he made name with the Norwegian/Swedish trio The Thing, which has found a common ground between avant-jazz to punk and garage rock.
