HUDSON MOHAWKE (WARP) FLYING LOTUS (WARP) CINNAMAN (BEAT DIMENSIONS)

Steve Ellison, a second cousin of Alice Coltrante, makes electronic music that sounds like a computer game gone haywire. Under the artist’s name of Flying Lotus he released an instrumental record called Reset, where hip-hop, funk and other Afro-American sounds were put through the Pac Man wringer. Kindred spirit Hudson Mohawke, also under contract to the Sheffield, England’s Warp Records, makes laptop-hip-hop that is even more fragmented and chaotic. Just like their other label mates Squarepusher and Clark FlyLo and HudMo combine a virtuoso feel for rhythm with an original ear for sound. Tonight they will be introduced by the Amsterdam producer Cinnaman, known from the group Beat Dimensions.
