Gijs Levelt is known as the trumpeter for Spinifex and Amsterdam Klezmer Band, and as a forward-thinking composer. Last year he founded his dream band in the wake of his solo album Spoken. Expect trance-inducing grooves, dark drones, and atmospheric improvisations, mixing Middle Eastern and Indian scales with ghostly beats.
Crucial to the Spoken Quartet’s music are the loops and effects used by Gijs Levelt to manipulate his trumpet sound. Alongside himself, the band consists of Stefan Schmid on keys and samples, Manuel Hugas on bass guitar and Joost Lijbaart on drums. During this concert the group will present the album Bustle, which will be released on Zennez Records.
