Fuse & Nathalie Joachim

Special encounter between Dutch ensemble and American-Haitian composer, singer, and flutist.

The versatile Amsterdam-based ensemble Fuse welcomes an exceptional musician. The six members of Fuse have been working on new music by Nathalie Joachim since 2020. Until now, the ensemble and the composer have never met each other in real life. This special concert will be their first encounter on stage.

Nathalie Joachim is a Grammy-nominated flutist, composer and vocalist. The Brooklyn born Haitian-American artist is hailed for her compositions, songs and stories, and the way she incorporates them into patchworks of acoustic and electronic instruments. Her acclaimed debut album Fanm d’Ayiti celebrates some of Haiti’s most iconic female artists, and explores her personal Haitian heritage. Nathalie Joachim has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Bryce Dessner, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Miguel Zenón.

Fuse explores boundaries, showing an inexhaustible urge for self-development. The six musicians (string quartet, double bass, percussion) have been displaying their versatility for years in the popular television show Podium Witteman. Fuse is also a seasoned live act with a recognizable and original sound. The ensemble has released three albums to date. In 2019, it received the audience award at the Edisons, the Dutch Grammys.
