Flatland Prayer ft. Joris Roelofs: FANATIC + support Marc Alberto

Suite that links folk, indie, bluegrass and jazz to the current state of affairs in America.

With FANATIC, River Adomeit composed a suite that stays true to the music of his homeland, the United States. At the same time It criticizes the developments there—the rise of the far-right and the seemingly insufficient resistance against it. This Americana suite was originally written as a reaction to the Capitol attack. Its updated second half uses audio material taken from an interview with the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, immediately following Trump’s re-election.
FANATIC will be performed by Flatland Prayer, in which River Adomeit plays double bass. Flatland Prayer recontextualizes American songwriting in a contemporary setting. Folk, indie, bluegrass, and jazz are linked to spoken word, theatre and performance art. Storytelling is always at the forefront, carried by the lyrics sung by Liva Dumpe and the expressive trumpet playing of Antonio Moreno. The ensemble is augmented for this concert with Joris Roelofs on bass clarinet.
Support act is composer, saxophonist and sound artist Marc Alberto who questions and breaks through established structures with a combination of poetry, activism, and improvisation.
