The programme Flamenco Sounds from Holland features talented Dutch flamenco musicians, such as guitarist Jacob Müller, who will undertake a musical journey with Palestinian ud player Victor Ghammam. Flamenco and its eastern influences collide in the eight tracks on Müller’s new CD Viento del Desierto (Desert Breeze), which he will present at this concert.

‘Pasión’ en ‘compás’, passion and rhythm: these are the main things that drive the Dutch quintet Compasión. The solid rhythmic formats of bulerías, fandangos and alegrías are combined with playful jazz improvisations by the two reed players. The musicians of Compasión maintain an exciting balance between tradition and freedom in ‘ traditionals’ and original compositions. ‘An innovation that sounds so natural that it raises the question: why hasn’t someone invented this before?’ (de Volkskrant).
