Is it art, kitsch or camp? Spidergirl, alias Erika Stucky, ignores all the rules with her extraordinary voice. In collaboration with Terry Edwards (among others Tom Waits).
American-Swiss vocalist Erica Stucky is a superior entertainer, who makes the boundaries between art, kitsch and camp disappear. She overwhelms audiences with her extraordinary voice, nudging towards variety, yodeling and old blues singers. Erika is legendary for her bizarre pop and jazz covers. She also plays accordion and creates an exciting environment with her self-made video projections. Spidergirl is the name of her new persona and her band with multi-instrumentalist Terry Edwards, who has previously collaborated with Tom Waits, Nick Cave and PJ Harvey.
‘Stucky is damn good and she can do everything… one of the most singular artists on the planet. Everything she does sounds great, whether she’s dragging her chair around on the floor, shaking her earrings or singing a drinking song or a love song’ (het Parool).
‘Serious fun’ (Rolling Stone).
