In BIMHUIS Productions we invite up-and-coming talent to experiment and develop new work. At the beginning of 2022 we welcomed guitarist Ella Zirina and saxophonist Hristo Goleminov. Both makers are currently recording their debut album. In this double concert they will present their new work!
Ella Zirina
Ella Zirina is a jazz guitarist and composer from Latvia, with a passion for the different textures and timbres of her instrument. Her compositions are built out of melodic improvisations, resulting in a personal and emotional sonic environment. She graduated with the highest honors at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, having studied with, among others, Jesse van Ruller and Reinier Baas. In Amsterdam she founded her own trio.
Hristo Goleminov
The classically trained multi-instrumentalist Hristo Goleminov moved from Portugal to Amsterdam to study jazz. At the Conservatorium van Amsterdam he studied with, among others, Jasper Blom and Ben van Gelder. His master research explored the baroque sonata as a model for jazz composition. In Amsterdam he leads a band with which he has performed his baroque-inspired music. This concert will be the premiere of his new octet, featuring some of Amsterdam and Porto’s most exciting young musicians.
