Major heroes of the tenor saxophone are honored on the new album Heroes by Efraïm Trujillo IV. It features seven original compositions, each dedicated to a favorite tenor player of band leader Efraïm Trujillo. The pieces are inspired by, among others, Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane and Stan Getz, and showcase the versatility of the tenor sax.
Together with his Ploctones partner Jeroen Vierdag on bass and super talents Sjoerd van Eijck (Mudita) on piano en Dirk de Nijs (De Raad van Toezicht) on drums, Edison winner Efraïm Trujillo pays tribute to his musical role models. Trujillo himself is inevitable as the tenor saxophonist, as he proved in bands such as The Ploctones, Preacher Men and New Cool Collective Bigband: lyrical, entertaining and powerful at the same time.
