Donny McCaslin ft. Jason Lindner, Tim Lefebvre & Nate Wood

American saxophonist once again takes inspiration from David Bowie’s final album Blackstar, on which he played a vital role.

As the bandleader on David Bowie’s final album Blackstar, saxophonist Donny McCaslin witnessed firsthand the musician’s penchant for reinvention. McCaslin applied that mindset to his latest music, which combines his propulsive saxophone playing with vibrant electronica and overwhelming alternative rock.

Our regular visitors recognize Donny McCaslin as a mainstay in contemporary jazz, as a tenor sax virtuoso and a composer who combines lyricism with challenging electronic experiment. In his current band he plays with keyboardist Jason Lindner and bassist Tim Levebvre, who have both appeared on Blackstar as well. Drummer Nate Wood has previously performed with, among others, Tigran Hamasyan and Kneebody.

Donny McCaslin tenor sax, Jason Lindner keyboards, Tom Lefevre bass, Nate Wood drums.
