De Raad van Toezicht

This 12-piece band is a sensation at jazz festivals and the regular house band the Dutch talk show DWDD. This fall their new album 84 will be released. ‘Steamy, banging, unstoppable’ (3voor12).

De Raad van Toezicht is a 12-piece Dutch/German band that made its breakthrough several years ago at the major Dutch jazz festivals and has developed into a convincing live sensation in jazz as well as pop venues. The band gave an overwhelming performance on the popular Dutch talk show DWDD and became its regular house band for jazz items.

Following the success of their debut album De Raad, the band launched its new album this fall. Titled 84, the album presents a bolder sound and strong new compositions. Various line-up changes have led to a well-oiled machine with a tight horn section, all kinds of keys, raw guitars and a double rhythm section. Last October 84 became Album of the Week on NPO Radio 2 Soul & Jazz.

’84 is another great Raad-album that rocks and swings in every way’ (Jazzenzo).

‘The band has grown … a broader sound leaning towards afrobeat, New Orleans brass music and even some latin’ (Jazzism).
