David Kweksilber Big Band

Leo van Oostrom, Dutch saxophone guru, shines in a self-compiled program featuring compositions from the treasure trove of the David Kweksilber Big Band.

They call him the guru. Everybody has had lessons from him. He own 140 saxophones. He has every saxophone score that has ever been played. Inspirator and DKBB lead saxophonist Leo van Oostrom curates from the DKBB repertory treasure trove, he will display his brilliant lyricism in a variety of pieces, and he will present a new self-penned composition: Elpeepurée.

‘Thanks to its regular gigs at the Bimhuis this group has amalgamated into a buzzing organic factory with a strong repertory. The enormous wealth of timbre is the strength of this company. The open attitude of all its members makes it an incredibly elastic ensemble. They’re very attractive to go see in concert because they play with so much joy’ (de Volkskrant).

Prior to the concert and afterwards: DJ/VJ Peter Kok.
