Saxophonist Wayne Shorter made history as a member of Miles Davis’s band, alongside the equally influential pianist Herbie Hancock. However, he was primarily celebrated as a composer who ushered in a new era of jazz, filled with extraordinary sounds and melodies. The last 24 years of his life saw him in a close-knit unit with musicians who now reunite on stage, led by the saxophone virtuoso Ravi Coltrane.
In tribute to their former bandleader, they come together once again to perform his music: the versatile pianist Danilo Pérez, bass phenomenon John Patitucci, and drumming powerhouse Brian Blade. With Shorter, they won numerous awards, including a Grammy for his final album “Emanon.” Now, they form a new quartet with Ravi Coltrane, who has stepped out of the shadow of his legendary father John and mother Alice, and emerged as one of the leading saxophonists of his generation.
