Twenty years of Cubop City Big Band is celebrated with sensational latin/salsa versions of the indestructible songs of Earth, Wind & Fire: Tierra, Viento Y Fuego!

Cubop City Big Band celebrates its 20th anniversary with the versatile program Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. This Bimhuis concert is all about Tierra, Viento Y Fuego, which means Earth, Wind & Fire arranged for salsa and latin jazz big band, with Spanish lyrics! Fantasy, September, Boogie Wonderland and many other classics of the legendary American pop/funk band will be performed in sensational new versions. The new arrangements were scored by legendary Colombian arranger Edy Martinez (Tito Puente, Ray Barretto), Marc Bischoff and Thelonious Monk Award-winner Ilja Reijngoud.

The international salsa group Cubop City Big Band led by drummer Lucas van Merwijk has gained recognition all over the world. Alongside Tierra, Viento Y Fuego the group will present two more themes in this anniversary year: ‘The music of Tito Rodriguez’ and ‘Latin Monk’, with latin variations on the music of Thelonious Monk. ‘Cubop City is not only the most explosive Latin band in Europe; it’s also hot in North and South America’ (de Volkskrant).
