COMANDA BARABBA
COMANDA BARABBA
- Starts
- 20:30
Five adventurers from the Italian underground jump effortlessly between mainstream and avant-garde. ‘Vibrant jazz, unruly and colorful’ (All About Jazz).
Comanda Barabba emanates from the Italian jazz underground, in particular the Bologna scene. The five members have collaborated with countless improvising musicians all over Europe. This open-minded attitude characterizes their most recent album Jazz Resistant, which features compositions by all five members. Jumping effortlessly between mainstream and avant-garde, they show affinity to the adventurous music of Charles Mingus, Ornette Coleman and the ICP Orchestra. Saxophone player Christian Ferlano is currently active in the improv scene of Amsterdam, where he lives.
‘The compositions of all band members are smart, yet they offer plenty of room to go off on a limb’ (JazzFlits).
‘Vibrant jazz, unruly and colorful’ (All About Jazz).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
