The ColorEs Colombia festival sheds new light on Colombian music and culture, featuring Guafa Trio and the young band La Jagua at the Bimhuis.
ColorEs Colombia focuses on contemporary music and culture from Colombia, with four days of concerts, exhibitions and lectures on various locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
The Colombian music scene has recently welcomed many new movements with a typically Colombian character. ColorEs Colombia presents two innovative bands at the Bimhuis: Guafa Trio and La Jagua.
Currently one of the most influential groups is the Guafa Trio, with traditionally informed music played in an exciting new way. The trio plays works from Central Colombia (Andes) and the Eastern region (Los Llanos Orientales).
A very young exponent of new Colombian music is the 11-piece band La Jagua. This energetic ensemble mixes traditional styles from both coastal regions and the Andes, resulting in a unique ‘mestizaje’, or blend.
