This June, one hundred years have passed since the early death of Franz Kafka. In Kafkaësk, the Rotterdam band Coal Harbour takes his literature as a source of inspiration for new music.
Franz Kafka is one of the most fascinating and influential writers of the twentieth century. His work, often characterized as absurdist and surrealistic, has had a profound influence on literature and philosophy. In the current day and age, Kafka’s work is still relevant. Many of his themes, such as alienation and dehumanization, have remained urgent. With their new music, Coal Harbour immerses you in the world of the Czech writer, drawing parallels between Kafka’s vision and our current age.
Coal Harbour operates on the cutting edge between contemporary classical music and jazz. Kafkaësk follows up the highly acclaimed FEEDFORWARD, which brought the collective to venues and festivals throughout The Netherlands in 2022.
