The quartet of saxophonist Chris Cheek, keyboardist Rembrandt Frerichs, bassist Mark Haanstra and drummer Jorge Rossy is rightly regarded as a supergroup. Playing only original compositions, rich in harmony and color, these inventive musicians explore improvisation to the fullest.
The lyrical and expressive saxophone sound of American Chris Cheek makes him one of the most respected musicians on the international jazz scene. Drummer Jorge Rossy, known from the Brad Mehldau Trio, is equally influential. These two have played together since the 1980s.
Now, they join forces with two outstanding Dutch musicians: Rembrandt Frerichs and Mark Haanstra. Known for his use of historical instruments such as the fortepiano, Frerichs opts here for a different palette with the Fender Rhodes and Moog synthesizer. Bassist Mark Haanstra effortlessly combines deep groove and playfulness in this quartet, promising a bold dive into the unknown.
