CATRIN FINCH & SECKOU KEITA

Fascinating duo playing on harp and kora, by star harpist Catrin Finch from Wales and Senegalese virtuoso Seckou Keita. ‘Their strings seem intimately entwined’ (Parool).

‘Hypnotizing, intoxicating, majestic, breathtakingly beautiful’ (de Volkskrant): superlatives fall short for the harpist duo of Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita. She is from Wales, he’s from Senegal. She is the new star of the classical harp and he is a virtuoso of the African harp, the kora. Their mixture of ancient melodies from Wales and West-Africa has proven successful: their debut album Clychau Dibon and their live performances are getting feverish response.

Catrin Finch performs all over the world as a classical harpist, among others with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Percussionist and kora player Seckou Keita comes from an esteemed lineage of griots (praise singers) and has been living in England since 1998. He performs solo as well as with bands like Baka Beyond. This year the duo has won the prestigious Songlines Magazine Best Cross-Cultural Collaboration Award.

‘Their string seem intimately entwined, you can barely hear where the kora stops and the harp begins’ (Parool).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
