Bojan Z Trio

Parisian star pianist Bojan Zulfikarpasic mixes jazz, classical, rock and Balkan music, with heaps of energy in a unique personal style. Featuring, among others, drummer Martijn Vink (The Ploctones).

Pianist Bojan Zulfikarpasic blends jazz and exciting contemporary classical playing with folk music from former Yugoslavia. He often plays various keyboards at the same time and even dares to take the plunge inside the piano, banging directly on the strings to emphasize his playing. At the Bimhuis he plays in trio formation with bassist Thomas Bramerie and drummer Martijn Vink (The Ploctones).

Bojan Z belongs to the top of the French jazz pianists; he won the Django d’Or (best French jazz musician) and he earned the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, an honour that is granted to very few immigrant artists. He previously collaborated with, among others, Henri Texier, Michel Portal and Julien Loureau.

‘Bojan Z’s Balkan roots surface all over the place in folk-dance scatterings, but his fondness for microtonal lines that are rudely rubbed against the harmony keeps the edge sharp’ (The Guardian).
