BOI AKIH ft. Hélène Duret, Peter Somuah, Fanny Meteier, Joshua Herwig, Mike Reed

Boi Akih will perform in a special international line-up, with trumpet, tuba, cello and drums. Boi Akih is more than music, it’s a movement of sound and emotion. Formed around award-winning vocalist and lyricist Monica Akihary and guitarist/composer Niels Brouwer, this duo creates a unique musical language. It transcends genres and cultures and is characterised by a deep connection to jazz as well as to European and Moluccan movements.

Boi Akih’s music is an adventurous intertwining of contemporary sounds and age-oldtraditions. Poetic vocals, sometimes raw and intuitive, dance together with layered guitar compositions. Together they form a dialogue between worlds, in English and Haruku (a Moluccan language), in which personal stories and universal emotions converge.

For this occasion, Boi Akih will play with drummer Mike Reed, a key figure in Chicago’s rich musical landscape, and Hélène Duret, a powerful and unique player on clarinet from Paris. They are joined by Fanny Meteier on tuba, Peter Somuah on trumpet, and Joshua Herwig on cello, three rising stars from the young generation.
