Recorder player Josephine Bode and pianist Dirk Balthaus are the
curators of this edition of BIMLAB, the concert series with
improvisations in the Bimhuis café.
She has been dubbed ‘the Lady
Gaga of the recorder’ by choreographer Katie Duck: Josephine Bode
combines the modern, experimental approach of the recorder with singing,
dance and theatre. For BIMLAB she formed a group together with Dirk
Balthaus. This German-born jazz pianist moved to Amsterdam 25 years ago.
He played in, among others, Millennium Jazz Orchestra.
BIMLAB is
an improv series in the Bimhuis café with unexpected musical
encounters. For every edition, two curators are selected from the
members of the Union of Dutch Improvisers (BIM), who were once the
Bimhuis founders. The curators will invite musicians for an evening of
short, adventurous sessions.
A co-production with BIM, free entrance for BIM members.
Cafe and box office open at 21:00 (restaurant closed).
