BIMHUIS SOUND SYSTEM

Every month on a Friday your weekend is being lauded in by two international dj’s. Using only the basic elements of a good party: two turntables, a mixer and the skyline of Amsterdam as your view.

BIMHUIS SOUNDSYSTEM is a new night at the BIMHUIS where DJs will team up to create a unique dancefloor-oriented set with only two record players and a mixer as instruments. In line with the reputation of the BIMHUIS, the focus lies on flawless sound while covering a wide and versatile musical spectrum.

DJ Radikal Rupert and Gropina will be standing behind the mixers of the fourth and for this season final edition of BIMHUIS Sound System.

RADIKAL RUPERT

Curator, musician, all-round music lover and DJ Radikal Rupert has been playing in jazz, funk and reggae bands and has recently released an album with the Amsterdam Funk Orchestra. His passion for music also speaks through the grooves of his records. He is a resident DJ at Noorderlicht Café, Doka and Volkshotel and has appeared everywhere from Paradiso to Ruigoord, Fusion Festival, Biarritz and beyond.

GROPINA

Originally from Tuscany, Italy, Gropina is a DJ and musician living and working in Amsterdam. He was partially raised in Brazil with open-minded parents. He still recalls parties in secluded countryside houses throughout his infancy, filled with garden campfires and Brazilian music, jazz-funk, tribal music and new age, just to name a few. His first steps into music making was as drummer in a punk band, after which he started experimenting with sampling records, creating hip-hop inspired music. Not long after he started DJ-ing in small bars.
Nowadays he is the co-founder of Paesaggi Records and has seen his debut EP “Mare Aperto” on September 2017. His sound is often marked by a DIY attitude, cheap gear and an unpredictable constantly evolving take on electronic music, often seeking for an emotional approach, recombining elements from the past to create new ways of reinterpret them.
As a DJ, his style is a blend of different influences without time or space boundaries, somewhere between balearic, downtempo, house disco and 80s dance music with a hint of dub.
