BILL LAURANCE
- Starts
- 20:30
Dance, afro grooves and Fender Rhodes: Snarky Puppy-pianist and Grammy-winner Bill Laurance burns loose with his renewed band. ‘Killer!’ (Giles Peterson, BBC).
With his London-based band, Bill Laurance will perform new music from his third album Aftersun. Dance and African percussion at its heart, the album combines deep world grooves with Laurance’s signature genre bending exploration.
Pianist, keyboard player and composer Bill Laurance is a core member of Snarky Puppy, the band who links jazz, R&B and hip-hop with great success. Like this Grammy-winning band, his own Bill Laurance Quartet consists of in-demand players who collaborated with both stars and underground heroes, from Gregory Porter and Jamie Cullum to Flying Lotus.
‘If jazz is to continue to appeal to future generations then it needs people like Bill Laurance to renew its relevance’ (Jazz Journal).
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
