In October 2025, it will be fourteen years since Piet Noordijk passed away. From Rotterdam bars to major venues with the Metropole Orkest: he captivated audiences with his vibrant saxophone playing, becoming one of the key figures in Dutch jazz.
The fifth edition of the European Alto Festival pays tribute to this legendary alto saxophonist. For the festival, Benjamin Herman invites alto saxophonists from other European countries to introduce their work to Dutch audiences. “There are so many amazing European musicians who remain invisible to jazz fans in nearby countries. I love being able to bring these incredible alto players here. They are truly exceptional; you won’t believe what you’re hearing,” says Benjamin Herman.
The full line-up will be announced soon.
